The aim of the present study was to analyse five factors which must be applied and enhanced to restore public confidence in the justice system of Slovakia: transparency, intelligibility, timeliness, personal responsibility and professional ethics. We considered trust as a moral emotion from the perspectives of the philosophy and psychology of law. Using this approach, we analysed both the current situation and the new legal norms under preparation. Finally, we devised our own proposals to improve the legal system in Slovakia. Keywords: transparency, intelligibility, timeliness, personal responsibility, professional ethics
