Abstract. Judicial governance is a complex concept that takes into account the competences of the Ministry of Justice, the Judicial Council, presidents and vice-presidents of courts, directors of court administrations, judges‘ councils, various judges‘ associations, judicial educational institutions and their institutionalised relationships. This article discusses judges‘ councils as special organs of judicial self-government, as a manifestation of the interest self-government of judges, as well as their special position in the context of the complex concept of judicial governance and management.
